Optimization and Automation of the Balance of Plant for Fuel Production at Pamesa (Onda, Spain)

Project Description:

Lean Hydrogen is collaborating on an innovative project led by Pamesa Grupo Empresarial and eCombustible Energy. Our company has played a key role in optimizing and automating a 10 MW electrolysis plant in Onda, Spain. This project is designed to efficiently produce hydrogen and oxygen, replacing natural gas in the ceramic atomization process, thereby eliminating CO₂ emissions and utilizing the generated oxygen in the oxy-combustion process.

Our Role in the Project:

Our team was responsible for:

✅Optimization of the Electrolyzer Balance of Plant: Enhancing efficiency and production capacity to meet the plant’s energy demands.

✅Advanced Automation: Developing systems that enable continuous operation of the plant with minimal intervention, ensuring stable and safe hydrogen and oxygen production.

✅Safety Studies: Ensuring the plant adheres to the highest safety and sustainability standards.

Key Technical Aspects:

✅Production Capacity: 10 MW of electrolysis with technology optimized for the ceramic sector.

✅Efficiency and Sustainability: The eFuel production system enables Pamesa to operate without CO₂ emissions, significantly reducing its environmental impact.

✅Industrial Applications: Hydrogen and oxygen generated on-site are used to replace natural gas in atomization processes, a highly energy-intensive stage in ceramic production.

Project Impact:

This initiative positions Pamesa as a leader in industrial decarbonization and reinforces the role of hydrogen as a clean, viable solution for energy-intensive industries. The optimization and automation of the system ensure efficient operations and a substantial reduction in both energy costs and environmental footprint.
