Project Description:
The Sedigas Think Tank is a visionary initiative focused on studying and advancing the injection of hydrogen into Spain’s natural gas network. This pilot project, located in Santo Domingo de la Calzada (La Rioja), enables blending green hydrogen with natural gas at a 10% ratio, maintaining the remaining 90% as natural gas.
Our Involvement:
Our role in the project centers on the basic engineering of the Hydrogen Regulation and Metering Station (ERMH), where we:
✅Designed a system to regulate and monitor hydrogen injection into the network, ensuring a stable and safe blend.
✅Integrated solutions that meet safety and efficiency standards, taking into account the unique deatures of hydrogen as a renewable gas and its effects on the gas distribution network.
Key Technical Aspects:
✅Injection Pressure: The ERMH operates at a pressure of 16 barg, enabling an optimal and safe blend for distribution.
✅Hydrogen Ratio: The system is designed to maintain a precise 10% hydrogen injection ratio, aligning with emissions reduction targets.
✅Scalable Application: This project is envisioned as a replicable solution that can be extended to other regions, facilitating the adoption of hydrogen in gas infrastructures nationwide.
Project Impact:
The Think Tank project is a key step in developing a hydrogen economy in Spain. By optimizing the use of the existing gas network, it lays the groundwork for a gradual transition toward a decarbonized energy system. This project not only reduces CO₂ emissions but also sets a precedent for future hydrogen applications in gas networks across Europe.

Conclusion:
This project highlights our expertise in engineering complex infrastructures for the energy transition. Our collaboration in the Think Tank further demonstrates our commitment to leading the shift toward a sustainable and resilient energy model, with technological solutions that integrate hydrogen into the gas sector and contribute to a low-carbon economy.
🌱We are committed to a sustainable future with green hydrogen at the core of decarbonization.
